New Concerto

The Concerto model is ideal for either beginning students with a background in voice or piano or second or third year players. It features a beautifully flamed maple back and neck and an even grained spruce top. This model is hand varnished with oil varnish and hand rubbed to a rich glow. This instrument provides some of the more complex overtones only available with a more advanced instrument. This instrument is often selected for beginners who are serious about learning and practicing. The retention rate for this model exceeds 80%.

This model has more power than the Model #100 and a finer selection of tonewoods and varnish. If your student enjoys a more powerful instrument and you do not mind the practicing I would recommend this model. Retention rate is approximately 90% for this model.

New and improved for 2011 with better graduations and bass bar. This violin is considered an intermediate instrument for serious students in Junior High School. It is entirely hand made by skilled violinmakers and hand varnished using select maple and spruce tonewood.
Tonewood is different from other woods for its unique tonal properties. An experienced violinmaker can tap the wood and actually hear notes ringing from the plates. The top and back are meticulously graduated to four tap tones on the top and back plates. It is these tap tones that help create the overtones so much enjoyed in fine instruments. This violin is perfect for a fourth year student and the retention rate on this model is over 85%.
